Fresh snowfall shuts border roads in north Kashmir’s Kupwara

Kupwara : ioktimes : Vehicular movement was suspended on roads connecting border areas with the main city in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday following fresh snow fall.

Reports mentioned that the vehicular movement was once suspended as a precautionary measure as roads have end up slippery due to fresh snowfall.

The town additionally turn out to be inclined to landslides and avalanches after snowfall, they stated.

The Plain areas of the district have obtained around four inches of snow since the early morning.

The Kupwara-Tangdhar road has been closed as around one feet snow has collected at Sadhna top.

“To restrict any kind of accident the roads had been closed for vehicular movement and the clearance will likely began once the weather improves,” mentioned an official.

Last year, the roads were closed for three days following snow fall within the district. On 17 November last year, a police officer was once killed and six others injured after their car came turtle in Keran area of Kupwara.
