Army Porter Killed in Cross Border firing on LOC

Rajouri : A person who was working as a porter with the Indian army was killed in firing alongside the LoC here Wednesday, officers mentioned.

According to the Army, the incident took Place in the afternoon after Pakistani army initiated unprovoked firing in Nowshera sector, leading to death of 55 year-old Bodh Raj, a resident of Deeing village.

“The Indian navy immediately evacuated the injured for medical aid, however the he succumbed to his injuries,” an army spokesman said in a declaration. “Our soldiers answered to the Pakistani belligerence in a befitting method”.

The army authorities promised all viable help and help to the household of the deceased.

In the meantime, a source said the deceased was an military porter who was engaged on the LoC in Kalal subject of Nowshera.

“A group of three porters was put in the forward posts of which one died while two others are reportedly safe, the source mentioned.

The police in Rajouri said that the deceased was once working as an army porter ‘as per the household of the deceased and other villagers’.

“Now we have started investigation into the matter,” a police official said.
